An at-home test to detect high levels of uric acid in blood which can cause gout. Gout is the most common form of inflammatory arthritis, resulting in pain, swelling and limited function in the joints.
Who is this test for?
The main symptom of gout is sudden severe pain in a joint – usually your big toe, but it can be in other joints in your feet, ankles, hands, wrists, elbows or knees.
Gout is more common in men than women, particularly those aged between 30-50. The following all increase the chances of getting gout:
- Obesity
- High alcohol consumption
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Kidney problems
- Diabetes
